Her name is Khadîja bint Khûwaylid. His lineage was noble and honorable. Already, at the time of the djahiliyya (pre-Islamic period), she was renowned in Mecca for her chastity and sincerity, to such an extent that she was nicknamed the “pure” and considered to be the mistress of Quraishite women.

At forty she married the Prophet who was twenty-five. First person to embrace Islam, she was at the side of the Messenger of God in all trials, providing him with emotional and material support.

She is the only one with whom he had children. She died the same year as Abu Talib, the other supporter of the Prophet. This year was nicknamed by Muslims, the Year of Sadness.
