Commentary on Surat al-Fatiha and the last part of the Quran

The Koran was sent down for three reasons: The first: To make its recitation an act of worship by which one draws closer to Allah. The second: To meditate on one's senses. The third: To learn from it [and act accordingly]. Allah - blessed and exalted is he said: [Here is a blessed book which we have sent down to you, so that they meditate on its verses and that the gifted with intelligence draw lessons from it.] (Koran, XXXVIII, 29). However, it is impossible for someone to learn from it when he does not know its meaning. In this book, you will discover the commentary of the last part of the Koran known as Hizb-Sabbih (part which includes the shortest suras and is the most recited by Muslims) and that of Surat al-Fâtiha. We chose the commentary of his eminence the Shaykh al-'Uthaymîn -may Allah be merciful to him- for two wise reasons:

• The first: The Shaykh al-'Uthaymîn - may Allah be merciful to him, is a great exegete; he was, in fact, the pupil of the two greatest commentators of the Koran of our time: Shaykh Muhammad al-Amîn ash-Shanqîtî and Shaykh Bn Nâsir as-Sa'dî.
• The second: His commentary is distinguished by the simplicity of its expressions, by its brevity and richness, by the accuracy of its explanations, by this effective method which consists in explaining the Koran by the Koran itself, by the distance from all affectation - takalluf - and by the lessons of morality which, in this way, unites in this commentary both the exposition of the meaning and that of the exhortation.
