Purifying his soul is an obligation incumbent on every Muslim, so that he can achieve success and happiness in this world and in the hereafter. However, this spiritual purification can be hindered by two types of pitfalls: illnesses of the soul which find their source in the passions and ambiguities, and external obstacles which constitute temptations, the malignant suggestions of Satan, bad associations and the influence of family and society.

Hence the importance of approaching the Islamic methodology in matters of purification of the soul which first requires the treatment of the diseases of this soul and the elimination of the obstacles which hinder this quest.
