DESCRIPTION
The Quran (Arabic: القرآن ʾal qurʾān, reading) is the sacred book of the Muslim religion. It is also the first book to be written in Arabic, a language that he helped to establish. The Quran brings together the divine words which were transmitted to the prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) fragmentarily by the archangel Gabriel (Jibril), orally during a period of twenty-three years. It is sometimes also called kitâb (book) or dhikr (reminder).
It is the uncreated word of God (Allah) addressed to all Humanity: Islam, unlike Christianity, has a universal vocation. The Quran is divided into one hundred and fourteen chapters called surahs, classified more or less in descending order according to their length with the exception of the first surah called Al Fatiha (sometimes translated as "the prologue" or even "the opening") . These suras are themselves composed of verses called âyât (plural of Arabic âyah, “proof”, “sign”). The verses have a canonical number of 6219.
Here is its transcription in its entirety in Arabic.
