The Messenger of God (on grace and peace) said: “The best among you is the one who has learned the Koran and who teaches it (to others). (Al-Bukhari). There are many hadiths that praise the merits of the verse of the Throne (Al-Kursiyy) including this one. It is reported from Ubayy Ibn Ka'b (God be pleased with him) that the Prophet (on grace and peace) asked him about the greatest verse of the Book of God.
“God and His Messenger know best,” he replied. And the Prophet (on grace and peace) added: “It is the verse of the Throne. May this knowledge bring you happiness, O Abu Al-Mundhir” (Muslim)
Ibn Kathir is one of the most eminent Muslim scholars. Endowed with an excellent mastery of the Arabic language and traditional sciences, his exegesis successfully combines ijtihâd (independent exercise of interpretation) and solicitation of tradition (athar).
