Prayer being the most important practical act of worship in Islam, it is not permitted to neglect or delay it for any reason.

However, Islam being a religion of ease in which Allah has proscribed all embarrassment, special provisions have been legislated to facilitate the patient's legal purification and prayer, since "Allah imposes on his soul only what it is capable of".
