Imam Abu al-Fidâ 'Imad ad-Dîn 'Isma'îl Ibn Oma Ibn Kathîr al-Qorâchi al-Basrânî was born in 701 h in Mijdal, a village in the suburbs of Bosra, south of Damascus. His father was a preacher. He died when Ibn Kathir was four years old. His brother, Sheikh Abd al-Wahâb took care of him and watched over his education. He moved to Damascus in 706 h when Ibn Kathîr was five years old. He wrote several books, including: - The famous exegesis known as ""Tafsîr Ibn Kathîr"". This book is one of the best books based on the various techniques of exegesis. - The famous history book known as ""al-Bidâya wa an-Nihâya"" - The Biography of the Prophet (bsl) ""as-Sîra an-Nabawiyya under the name of al-Foussoul fî Ikhtisâr Sirat ar-Rassoul"". He died in Damascus in 774 h.
