Praise be to Allah; we praise Him, implore His help and seek His protection from the evil of our souls and the misdeeds of our deeds. Whomever Allah guides, no one can mislead him and whoever He misleads, no one can guide him. I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, who is unique and without partner, and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger, the prayer and the salvation of Allah be upon him.

Marriage is a sacred bond and a solemn commitment which man instinctively aspires to establish. It is a practice which wise legislations encourage and which human souls are inclined to adopt in order to suitably satisfy a natural need.

Through marriage one obtains mercy, affection and tranquillity. It allows procreation, the gathering and fawn of hearts. Many are the benefits of marriage and various its blessings, as we will see throughout this book, Allah willing.
